The sensitive material of the MQ-5 gas sensor is tin oxide (SnO₂), which has lower conductivity in clean air. When the target combustible gas exists, the sensor’s conductivity is higher along with the gas concentration rising. Please use a simple electric circuit and convert the change of conductivity to the corresponding output signal of gas concentration. The MQ-5 gas sensor has a high sensitivity to methane, propane, and butane and could be used to detect both methane and propane. The sensor could be used to detect different combustible gases, especially methane; it is with low cost and suitable for different applications.
