Split-core current transformers provide accurate measurements of AC electrical systems and feature a removable or hinged leg for easy installation without disconnecting wires or interrupting power. Both retrofit and semi-permanent metering applications can benefit from the split-core’s non-invasive design.
Split-core CTs have a “split” in the core that allows the CTs to open and be placed around the conductor without having to disconnect the conductor or disrupt the wiring. Split-core CTs may be more expensive, but their convenience generally outweighs their cost when dealing with retrofit installations.
Dual-core CT can be used for two simultaneous applications like metering & relay protection. In case one winding is used & the other is unused, then the other winding must be short-circuited to avoid high induced voltage in the unused winding.
This is a mini split base current transformer; it’s the smallest one compared to the similar products (output 100 mA).
